| Murray's Rockpile was born in 2003 out
of the need to provide Kris Murray an outlet for his energies, and for
his rocks. I am Kris Murray, welcome to my rockpile. I have been a rockhound since my Uncle first introduced me to fluorite. Those small little cubes just fascinated me. Maybe it was the soft colors, and maybe it was their perfect little cubic shape. Either way, I was hooked. By the time he showed me what a geode was, I was a full-blown addict, much as you find me today. My addiction went into remission through my middle school through college years. It wasn't until I stumbled upon the Idaho Star Garnet mines at Emerald Creek, Clarkia, that my adddiction swung back into full again. I don't have a geology degree or a gemology degree, but I have a fondness for rocks, and I have a passion for hard-to-find specimens and a knack for locating huge pieces of just about anything. I like the big pieces. Some of the pieces you see on these pages I collected personally. Others came via estate sales or auctions. Some have been purchased as an investemnt and a slight few have been acquired for the sole purpose of sale. I do have a better half, Jennifer. She runs the Ebay™ department of MurrayRockpile.com. I also have two dogs and a roommate, all three of which choose to remain nameless for security reasons. |
